Joseph Mugnaini was was an artist and illustrator, born in Viareggio, Italy on July 12, 1912. A few months after his birth, Mugnaini arrived in the United States with his family. Settling in Los Angeles, he studied at the Otis Art Institute. Following service in the Army during World War II, he returned to Otis as an instructor and taught there until retirement in 1976. One of his pupils was Norman Rockwell. Mugnaini died in Los Angeles on Jan. 23, 1992.
